Driver Who Struck Teen Dead In Central PA Hit-Run ID'd: Police (2nd Update)

The names of both the driver who fled a fatal Manheim hit-and-run and the victim have been released by the police and the family respectively.

Mikayla Victoria Mustard, 23 of Harrisburg, has been identified as the driver of a white Nissan Maxima that hit a 16-year-old boy believed to have been working along the side of the road on May 2, according to the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department's updated release on Wednesday, May 8. 

The boy has been identified by his family and friends as Curtis Michael Groff. He was in the 11th grade in the Manheim Area Christian Home School Co-Op, he worked for Buck’s Lawn Care Service of Lititz, as well as Westview Enterprises of Manheim, and was a member of White Oak Church, as detailed in his obituary.

The NLCRPD was called to a report of a "person down" at 200 West Sun Hill Road in Penn Township, Maheim at 9:32 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, as detailed in the release. 

"The suspected striking vehicle and driver have been located and identified," the police stated in the first update of the release. In the May 8th, update, they said that "Investigators obtained a search warrant and took custody of the Nissan involved in the crash," but noted that "No charges have been filed as this incident remains under investigation by the NLCRPD Crash Investigation Team."

Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department was assisted on the scene by, the Lancaster County Corners Office, Northwest Crash Team, Manheim Fire Company & Fire Police, and emergency service personnel. 

NLCRPD said the following:

"At this time the members of the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department wishes to extend its sympathy to the family that lost their loved one tonight."

The NLCRPD has launched a "death investigation" for this incident, and noted that "no further details are being released at this time."
